Craig Judelman (USA/D; violin, composer)

is highly regarded as a fiddler, composer, and educator on both sides of the Atlantic. He began playing klezmer in the 1990s, but it wasn’t until much later that his background in classical music and composition, combined with decades of immersion in American Old Time music, cultivated his unique perspective on Ashkenazi fiddling.

Since moving to Berlin in 2017, Craig has recorded and performed with leaders of klezmer and Old Time revitalization, including John Cohen, Peter Stampfel, Lorin Sklamberg, and Michael Alpert, with whom he released a highly acclaimed duo album in 2023.

Devoted not just to playing the music, but also to researching its cultural context, organizing events, and building bridges with other European traditions, Craig has taught or performed at most major klezmer festivals and is a core organizer of Shtetl Berlin and a co-founder of Seattle Yiddish Fest.
