Janina Wurbs (D; Researcher, Yiddish teacher and translator, photographer)

Janina Wurbs studied Jewish Studies, Religious Studies and History at the University of Potsdam, in New York City and St. Petersburg.

She works mainly in the fields of Yiddish language, culture and history and Jewish music/ethnic music; as historian, translator, language teacher, journalist, radio journalist and photographer as well as in research projects (financed by the DFG and the SNF) and museums.

She has been involved with YSW and all things Yiddish since 2003: radio, theater, publishing poems, short stories, photo-essays and journalistic articles in various Yiddish newspapers and magazines, expeditions and interview projects for music CDs and movies.
