Miriam Camerini (IT/IL; theater, voice, Jewish studies)

is a theater director, Jewish scholar, writer, singer, and actress. She is the founder and artistic director of Benhashmashot Jewish Theater in Milan. At Mantova Festivaletteratura in 2013, she produced Lo Shabbat di tutti, a performance that invites audience members to experience a Shabbat dinner with food, theater, music and learning; the project has toured extensively for the last 11 years.

Miriam was a performer at Yiddish Summer Weimar’s Bobe Mayses project in 2016 and the director of Di Megile fun Vaymar in 2019. She holds a BA in Linguistics and Literature from the State University of Milan and studied Bible and Talmud at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.

She is now a rabbinical student at Beit Midrash Har'El, one of the first Orthodox institutions to ordain women rabbis. Miriam is the author of Ricette e Precetti (2019), a book about food and religion, published in German as Rezepte und Gebote.
