Introduction to Yiddish Song Workshop

Welcome to the world of Yiddish song! If you’re new to the Yiddish language or to Yiddish song, or if you’re experienced but you’d like to delve deeper into repertoire and style, then this workshop is for you! We’ll be surveying a wide variety of Yiddish songs across genres and styles, eras and cultural contexts. Led by a world-class team of Yiddish song creators and interpreters, this workshop is not only for singers: Instrumentalists who want to work on accompanying Yiddish song are more than welcome as well! Reflecting the special topic of YSW this year, the workshop will include songs from Moldavia, a historical area encompassing parts of what is today Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
This workshop will be taught primarily in English, with German translation on request.
